MindTree inks deal

MindTree Ltd said has inked two deals worth more than USD 70 million over the next five years to provide infrastructure management services to overseas clients.The company said it had signed the deals with a European information and communication technology service provider and a U.S.based bank. Ram Mohan, senior vice president, said he expects the two deals to have a combined workforce requirement of 250 to 300 employees. The company plans to expand its centres in Bangalore and Chennai, anticipating more large deals in the remote infrastructure management area, Mohan said.

HCL renews outsourcing contract

In a year when India's top tech firms are pushing harder to gain a share of the USD 100-billion US government outsourcing market, HCL Technologies has renewed its contract with the state of Virginia, as more government departments seek to lower costs by giving away non-core work. Government sector contracts are being outsourced to Indian IT firms as more US states look to gain greater efficiencies and reduce costs. Experts say this could get a bigger boost as the US federal budget proposes to cut more than USD 61 billion from current spending levels this year.

L&T Infotech wins outsourcing contract

L&T Infotech, which competes with larger rivals Tata Consultancy Services TCS and Infosys, has won new outsourcing contracts from Indian Railways for building and deploying enterprise resource planning ERP solutions. These contracts, the first among a series of over Rs 100 crore projects being planned by the Indian Railways, will help one of the most complex and largest railway systems in the world automate its freight and locomotive management systems.

Infrastructure Management Services contract for TCS

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), leading IT services, consulting, business solutions and outsourcing firm, has announced that AGL Energy Ltd (AGL), Australias leading renewable energy company, has signed a five-year Infrastructure Management Services contract, worth more than $50 Million AUD, with TCS.Prior to this contract, TCS has been executing a number of leading edge programs covering advanced metering, gas trading, pricing engine and multiple SAP projects. Over the past three years, the TCS-AGL relationship has evolved into a "Full Services Play" covering consulting, implementation, assurance, outsourcing and support. Today, over 650 TCS consultants deliver these engagements for AGL. Most of these projects are either second generation outsourcing or new projects.

Infospectrum signs deal with Factonomy

Factonomy Ltd, a Scottish vendor of innovative enterprise business solutions, announced today that they have completed a deal with product development firm Infospectrum Pvt Ltd to partner in the development of systems for two leading US banking clients as the first part of a long term arrangement expected to be worth $700,000 in the current year.Infospectrum is a leader in the outsourcing of product development and has operations in India, the USA and Europe.

HCL wins contract

Indias largest IT player in infrastructure management services HCL Technologies has outbid global majors such as IBM, CSC and HP to win a $79-million deal to manage the IT infrastructure of Singapore Exchange.HCL Technologies has said that it has signed a five-year IT infrastructure outsourcing agreement worth S$110 million, to establish a state-of-the-art data centre and seamlessly connect other global trading hubs to Singapore Exchange (SGX).

Satyam wins IT deal from Aspire

Indias Satyam Computer Services has received a technology outsourcing contract worth as much as USD 15mn from a government agency in Qatar as part of the Middle Eastern countrys preparations for the world cup soccer games in 2022, people familiar with the matter said. While the contract value from Aspire is small, it is still a vote of confidence for the Indian software services company which is recovering from one of Indias biggest corporate scandals. In January 2009, Satyam plunged into turmoil after its founder and then chairman B Ramalinga Raju confessed to overstating the companys profits for years using a fictitious cash balance of more than USD 1bn.

Saudi Telecom Co sets up joint venture

Saudi Telecom Co, or STC, ranking among worlds top 20 telecom operators, and Aegis, a global outsourcing services company, have set up a USD 2 billion Saudi-based joint venture, initially named, Contact Centre Company, or CCC, through which Aegis would manage STCs entire customer care operations and also scout for regional opportunities. The JV would start operations on March 1 initially with 550 agents transferred from STC to CCC in Jeddah and Riyadh, providing directory assistance, and a potential of scaling up to 5,000 agents over the next 18-24 months. The number of agents is expected to increase to 10,000 in roughly three years. On full stream; CCC will be amongst the largest contact centres in the region.

Outsourcing contract for HCL

Indian services provider HCL has signed a seven year agreement with Saudi Arabias Al Majdouie Group (AMG) for IT outsourcing. The vendor claims that its the one of the largest deals it has struck in the Kingdom with an estimated value of more than USD 10 million. The agreement also marks the first time that that AMG has worked with an outsourcing provider. Under the terms of the deal, HCL will assist AMG with what it terms a transformational engagement, in which it will help create new infrastructure including a new datacentre and disaster recovery centre. AMG will also implement more than 70 modules of Oracle e-business suite, a initiative which HCL is already the terming single largest implementation of Oracle in terms of breadth of implementation across the region. In addition, HCL will also be managing AMGs service desks, which entails supporting more than 1500 users in 100 different locations.

IBM signs outsourcing deal

Quippo-WTTIL, an independent telecom infrastructure company, said it has entered into a five-year, multi-million-dollar outsourcing deal with International Business Machines Corp.IBM will overhaul the technology infrastructure of Quippo-WTTIL through the deal, which includes managing hardware, mailing and software applications, the Indian company said.
