Unilever has signed a four-year IT service contract with BT Global, with the ultimate goal of improving Unilevers telecommunications infrastructure. The deal is worth B#173 million, and through the help of BT, Unilever hopes to enhance the entire range of its communications endeavours, from supply chain initiatives to wireless technology. According to Jeff Kelly, chief executive of BT Global, his companyb s primary goal is to be a world-class partner to Unilever by assisting in its growth during the coming years. Mahindra Satyam, an Indian IT services provider has won a four-year outsourcing contract worth USD 48 million from Denmark-based technology firm KMD.The new contract is an extension of a previous deal from KMD that was due to expire this year, the company said.The deal will continue the outsourced development of IT applications, in particular SAP (System Applications and Products). SAP applications lead the global market in providing collaborative, inter-enterprise software solutions to a wide range of businesses.

The National Australia Bank NAB has reportedly decided to outsource nearly 400 new jobs to India by the year end. The Bank has commenced its second round of its IT outsourcing program ITO Wave Two, and over the next phase, the Bank would examine offshoring up to 148 jobs from its Technology Banking, Australia TBA and Technology MLC divisions.The review will encompass TBAs three Melbournebased teams overseeing business and retail payments, Siebel and accounts services, and MLCs Sydney based mainframe team.

Indian services provider HCL has signed a seven year agreement with Saudi Arabias Al Majdouie Group (AMG) for IT outsourcing. The vendor claims that its the one of the largest deals it has struck in the Kingdom with an estimated value of more than USD 10 million. The agreement also marks the first time that that AMG has worked with an outsourcing provider. Under the terms of the deal, HCL will assist AMG with what it terms a transformational engagement, in which it will help create new infrastructure including a new datacentre and disaster recovery centre. AMG will also implement more than 70 modules of Oracle e-business suite, a initiative which HCL is already the terming single largest implementation of Oracle in terms of breadth of implementation across the region. In addition, HCL will also be managing AMGs service desks, which entails supporting more than 1500 users in 100 different locations.

Technology and management consulting company Accenture Plc (ACN) has entered into a global multi-year outsourcing agreement with Electrolux IT Solutions AB. The tech giant will be responsible of developing and managing a designated portion of Electroluxs enterprise applications, which consist of JD Edwards, Congos and Lotus Notes.
