Tata Consultancy Services has been selected as an IT vendor by BP for the oil and gas major's refining, manufacturing and corporate maintenance works. "Our selection as a strategic IT vendor for BP demonstrates our strong domain expertise and highlights the investments we have been making in the technology-led energy sector," TCS Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director N Chandrasekaran said in a release.

Netherlands based KPN has signed a multi year USD 28 million outsourcing deal with Logica for its business applications IT service desk support. Through this service, Logica will manage questions and issues KPN may face with their IT systems on a daily basis. A total of 40 jobs will be outsourced to Logica.

IT solutions provider Tech Mahindra is understood to have bagged a majority portion of the Rs.1,500 crore telecom IT outsourcing deal from new operator Etisalat DB Telecom India, pipping seven other IT vendors, including Wipro Technologies and IBM. The deal is expected to be announced soon.

Indias revenue from outsourcing services to clients abroad will grow by about 4 to 7 percent in the Indian fiscal year to March 31, 2010, says the National Association of Software and Service Companies Nasscom.The countrys outsourcing revenue from abroad is expected to be between US USD48 billion and USD50 billion. The exports figure includes Indian outsourcers revenue and that of local subsidiaries of multinational companies that outsource software development and business process outsourcing work to India.

MphasiS, the Indian services subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard HP, said that it reached a definitive agreement to acquire AIG Systems Solutions Pvt. Ltd. AIGSS, the IT services arm in India of insurer American International Group AIG.The move by MphasiS will strengthen its presence and expertise in the insurance and financial services markets, said Ganesh Ayyar, CEO of MphasiS.With operations in Chennai and Kolkata in India, AIGSS has more than 800 employees, and offers services to AIG companies worldwide.

The countrys second largest information technology IT services exporter Infosys Technologies Ltd has bid for at least 10 large government projects as part of a drive to lower its dependence on the US market, an official said. Infosys, which gets at least half its business from the US, plans to generate USD1 billion Rs4,870 crore now in revenue from the Indian market in two-three years versus an insignificant level now, the head of its India business unit said.

Indias Infosys Technologies Ltd said it has got a multiyear, multimillion dollar global services deal from AstraZeneca Plc. Under the deal agreement, Infosys will deliver complete application maintenance services to the drug firms global operations in areas such as manufacturing, supply chain, finance, human resources and other corporate functions, it said in a statement.

Nokia has outsourced desktop management and help desk functions in 76 countries to Indian outsourcer HCL Technologies. HCL announced that the handset maker has signed a five year contract.The outsourcer has set up a new office in Helsinki, Finland, to deliver nearshore services to Nokia, in addition to delivering services from centers in Poland, China, the U.S. and India.

Lootah IT Solutions LITS, the information and communication technology ICT division of S.S. Indian outsourcer HCL Technologies has acquired its first data center in the U.S. from one of its customers, the company said.HCL also took over the data center's staff and other operations, said R. Srikrishna, senior vice president for sales for the North America business of HCL's Infrastructure Services Division. HCL actually acquired the data center in October but delayed announcing it until this month, pending the upgrade of the facility.
