NIIT Technologies, British Airways ink outsourcing deal

Indian information technology company NIIT Tech has inked a multimillion pound outsourcing contract with British Airways.The deal spans a three year period, and will let NIIT Tech support and test critical business applications of British Airways. It comes at a time when the global aviation industry is seeking all possible ways to contain costs, since it is combating high fuel costs, declining sales and a credit crunch.

Infosys, HCL battle it out for Axon

Indian firms HCL Technologies and Infosys are locked in a battle to buy British tech firm Axon Group Plc. HCL on Friday offered to buy Axon at around GBP441.1 million USD810.8 million or Rs 3,720 crore, that betters Infosysbs GBP400 million USD736 million or Rs 3,380 crore bid made in August.We see Axon as a transformational opportunity for HCL, the companys chief executive Vineet Nayar said.

IBM India vital in MTN deal

South African phone firm MTN Group Ltd has approached International Business Machines Corp., or IBM, to provide information technology support and services in a deal estimated to cost USD2 billion Rs9,200 crore and modelled on the work the US company has done for three Indian cellphone operators.A deal between the Johannesburglisted firm, which aims to be a top 10 global telecom company through tieups in countries such as India and Mexico, and IBM is likely to be signed by the end of this year, according to a person close to the development.

Tech Mahindra ties up with Servist

Tech Mahindra TechM, an IT services provider for telecom, signed an agreement on Thursday to acquire 17 percent equity stake in Servista, a privately held UK based company. TechM did not disclose the size of the deal. TechM has business relations with Servista for the past three years. Since Servista was going into its second round of funding, TechM decided to pick up a stake. Servista has centres in France, Italy, Spain and Germany which gives TechM an entry to these markets.

TCS signs for ADDC centre

Saab and Tata Consultancy Services Limited TCS have signed a letter of intent regarding establishment of an Aeronautical Design and Development Centre ADDC in India. The vision for the centre is to serve the global aeronautical market. The centre will create design and development capabilities within India for both military and civil aeronautical applications. Indian domestic IT shining

Indias booming IT market has seen the domestic demand growth outstrip exports for the first time in over a decade, thanks to the maturing outsourcing market, says a new survey. BT has extended IT service support and development contract with Steria for a value of 92 million euros over six years 75 million pounds over six years.Steria, the European IT enabled, business services company today announces the extension of its applications outsourcing contract with BT until March 2014.
