Educational Testing Service (ETS), a provider of education assessments and psychometric research, has awarded Accenture a seven-year, $160M contract extension to continue managing its end-to-end supply chain, under a business process outsourcing (BPO) agreement. Under the agreement, which was entered originally in 2005, Accenture will continue to manage all aspects of ETS supply chain, including the printing, publishing, warehousing, distribution, tracking and shipping of tests and test materials to more than 10 million test takers in 160 countries every year. This allows ETS to continually improve the control, accuracy and integrity in its operations.

Thomson Reuters, the leading global news and business information company, announced that it has acquired Pangea3, a leading Indian legal process outsourcing (LPO) backed by Sequoia Capital India. This is the second acquisition by Thomson Reuters in India in the legal space. In 2009, Thomson had bought out IndLaw Communications, a Delhi-based legal database firm in which PE firm 2i Capital had invested.

Aegis, the BPO arm of the $15-billion Essar Group, has acquired BPO company Actionline in Argentina, which has an annual revenue of over $50 million. However, the company did not disclose the value of the deal. With the acquisition Aegis plans to tap into the large domestic outsourcing market in Latin America. Actionline, one of the largest BPOs in Argentina, has a workforce of about 5,000 spread across seven centres in five cities. With focus on the domestic market, Actionline has clients in the telecom, banking, insurance, and energy sectors. It offers contact centre services and data base management for onshore clients.

US largest drugstore chain Walgreens has announced a 10-year outsourcing deal with Indias BPO provider Genpact. As part of the contract, Walgreens will shift its accounting processes and jobs to Genpact, a move that will involve transfer of at least 500 jobs. This is Genpacts fourth-large deal in past three months, signaling a gradual bounce back in the global BPO business market.

Indian media company UTV Software Communications has signed a five-year BPO deal with IBM to streamline its key provisions. The technology giant will take over the companys finance and accounts, rights management, procurement, projects, material management and other key functions in a bid to provide a customer-centric operating environment. RMS, a specialist in business-to-business accounts receivable management outsourcing, has signed a definitive agreement to merge with iQor Holdings, Inc., a global provider of business process outsourcing (BPO) services.In conjunction with the merger, Citi Venture Capital International (CVCI) has made a substantial investment in iQor. Huntsman Gay Global Capital, which last month announced it had made a majority investment in iQor, is making an additional investment in the combined company, and Guggenheim Partners provided debt financing for the transaction.

Aegis Ltd, the outsourcing arm of Essar Group, has acquired Actionline, a business process outsourcing firm (BPO) in Argentina for an undisclosed sum, marking the entry into the Latin American market of a back-office services firm that has a clear strategy of establishing a global presence through acquisitions.The acquisition, the 16th by Aegis, will add 5,000 employees and 14 clients to the company. Actionline offers traditional contact centre services as well as data base management services.

Infosys Business Process Outsourcing BPO, a unit of Infosys Technologies, that started focusing on the domestic market last year, expects 5percent of its overall revenues from Indian clients in the next two years. In a bid to cater to the Indian clients, the firm is expanding in rural areas by co-partnering with third party sub-contractors, thus leveraging on the existing infrastructure of these providers and thereby reducing the overall cost of delivering services to rural clients.
