Accenture to continue BPO deal

Educational Testing Service (ETS), a provider of education assessments and psychometric research, has awarded Accenture a seven-year, $160M contract extension to continue managing its end-to-end supply chain, under a business process outsourcing (BPO) agreement.

BPO hotspots in India

Many analysts believe that the growth of India outsourcing sector is widely optimistic. Additionally countries like Philippines, China, Mexico and Vietnam are also expanding outsourcing operations and often provide cheaper services.India is considered the BPO powerhouse of the world. Of the top ten BPO destinations in the world, there are as many as six Indian cities. A study conducted by Global Services has ranked the cities based on skills and scalability, savings, business environment, operational environment, business risk and quality of life in these cities. Cost still plays a significant factor in choosing a location, says the study.

Aditya Birla Minacs expands operations

Aditya Birla Minacs, the business process outsourcing (BPO) arm of the USD 28 billion Aditya Birla Group, expanded its operations in Eastern India with the inauguration of its 31st and 32rd delivery centers in Kolkata and Ranchi respectively.Both the facilities were inaugurated by Navanit Narayan, chief service delivery officer, Idea Cellular Ltd, said a press release.

BPO deal for Accenture

Accenture has signed a five-year business process outsourcing (BPO) contract with Statoil, an international energy company with operations in 40 countries, to manage the companys Accounts Payables processes.The agreement is designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Statoils Accounts Payable function by reengineering processes and increasing automation supported through Accentures Global Delivery Network using centers in Norway, the Czech Republic and India.

Information Technology and BPO services provider Patni Computer Systems has won a multi-million dollar deal from Universal American, a senior health insurance company in the US. "It is a five-year agreement for providing end-to-end policy administration services for Universal American Corp," Patni Computer said in a statement .

Manila BPO centre from TCS

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Indias top software services company, says that it has opened a back office services centre in Manila, its first such facility in Southeast Asia. TCS said the centre would help it tap the large pool of skilled talent available in the Philippines, which it said was the second-largest back office services destination in the world after India. Back office services revenue was 11.5 per cent of TCS' total revenue in the year to March 2010, the company said.

Supply chain bpo deal for Accenture

Educational Testing Service (ETS), a provider of education assessments and psychometric research, has awarded Accenture a seven-year, USD 160M contract extension to continue managing its end-to-end supply chain, under a business process outsourcing (BPO) agreement. Under the agreement, which was entered originally in 2005, Accenture will continue to manage all aspects of ETS' supply chain, including the printing, publishing, warehousing, distribution, tracking and shipping of tests and test materials to more than 10 million test takers in 160 countries every year. This allows ETS to continually improve the control, accuracy and integrity in its operations.

BPO deal for HCL

HCL Technologies today said it has bagged a USD 100 million deal for its BPO unit. "We have bagged a 100 million dollar contract from an US company," HCL CEO and vice-chairman Vineet Nayar said on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit. The BPO unit of HCL Technologies was running in losses as the company is trying to rejig the business model and move away from voice-based services. However, HCL expects to turn the HCL BPO unit profitable in next five to six quarters.

Capgeminis Indian BPO operations to increase

Capgeminis BPO operations in India, by next year, will account for 50 per cent of the company's global headcount, which is expected to touch 12,000.Capgemini BPOs global headcount at present is 10,800. There are 4,300 employees in India, making it the companys largest delivery centre around the world. Other centres globally, outside France, are in China, North America, Australia, and South America.

T Mobile signs BPO deal

T-Mobile UK has signed a five-year outsourcing contract with Indias Infosys BPO, the BPO arm of Infosys Technologies. The contract covers several core processes for their finance directorate which cover customer finance, commercial finance and accounting (F&A), and procurement operations, Infosys BPO said in a statement.

Infosys BPO wins deal

Infosys BPO, a subsidiary of Infosys Technologies has bagged a deal from IT firm Global Group to provide services in the field of information technology for a period of 20 months. "Post-completion of setting up a shared service centre (SSC), it is expected that the unit would accommodate more than 1,000 personnel," Infosys BPO said in a statement. Global Group, which owns telecom infrastructure firms GTL Ltd and GTL Infra, has decided to engage Infosys BPO , the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Technologies, to provide services with regard to setting up of the SSC.
