Animation and gaming are seen as the next wave in Indias successful outsourcing story. However, there is a major change, this is a sector which has moved up from outsourcing to co production, a move up the value chain from low end, less creative work to higher creativity and advanced technologies, says Krayon Pictures director Namrata Sharma. She said that for India to catch the animation bus, it needed to quickly provide the required manpower since Nasscom had projected that both animation and gaming were multi billion dollar opportunities for India. The usual block, however, is the lack of trained manpower.

IT services provider Affiliated Computer Services is in talks to buy e-Services Group, a supplier of offshore call center and back-office processing services based in Jamaica.ACS has not released any fine details about the deal, but said that the addition of e-Services, which has a 4,000-strong workforce in Jamaica and St Lucia, would provide it with an English-speaking workforce capable of handling complex business functions from a location and time zone convenient to North American businesses.

Cybernet slashsupport, a US-based technology support company, opened a 291 seater call center hub at the Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City yesterday, the companys first business process outsourcing BPO facility here. Raghu Rahman, Cybernet vice president and head of consumer services, said their initial investment in the facility was around USD 2 million. Fifty technical support employees will start working today, with 50 more expected to report for work in the next two months.

Perot Systems is adding a new facility for business process outsourcing in Chennai in south India, citing strong business from the healthcare segment.BPO business from the healthcare segment has been relatively unaffected by the economic downturn, Manish Jain, head of corporate communications at Perot India, said.
