LPO favouring India

India is no where close to countries like US, Japan and China, when it comes to filing patents. But it still does a significant bit in the IP space. A lot of its happening through patent service outsourcing in India. This means, a lot of back ground work for the numerous patents that are being filed by other countries, are being done out of India. Experts say, patent services outsourcing, the high value work of legal process outsourcing LPO has been a fairly new phenomenon here, hardly four to six years old. According to estimates last year, more than 1.8 million patent applications were filed worldwide.

Satyam BPO set to grow

Satyam Computer Services hopes that Satyam BPO formally known as Nipuna will be out of the red and begin to make profits in the next two years.The scope for the BPO business is quite huge. We the industry have just touched the tip of it. The arm has registered revenues of Rs 55.62 crore, showing a growth of 15 per cent, in the second quarter. This has helped us cut losses to Rs 20 crore even after absorbing forex losses, V. Srinivas, Chief Financial Officer of Satyam, said.

Indian KPO on expansion

As the USD8.4 billion Indian ITeSBPO exports industry braces itself to touch the USD24 billionmark by 2010, according to Nasscom, smaller players may not be a part of the party. The BPO game is all about volume, opines Anish Zavery of KPMG. He adds, In order to survive the smaller players will have to provide very niche services which add value to a companys business, on the lines of a KPO.However, smaller companies in the knowledge process outsourcing space may not be able to survive this wave of consolidation in the industry either.

Indian LPO booming

The legal profession in India has expanded to new dimensions and is no more confined to conventional bar practice. It is clear that the offshore outsourcing of legal services to India, commonly although perhaps misleadingly, referred to as legal process outsourcing LPO, is a fast to growing industry. Wipro BPO opens up in Curitiba

Global software major Wipro has set up a business process outsourcing BPO center at Curitiba in Brazil to provide shared services to AmBev, the largest brewery in Latin America, the IT bellwether said here late Friday.The shared services will be in finance and accounting, order management, customer care and HR human resource activity spanning AmBevs operations across Latin America, the Bangalore based company said in a statement.
