Dell Services, the recently formed unit combining Dells services arm and the acquired Perot Systems, is planning to make India the delivery hub for Asia and West Asia. At present, the firm’s Indian operation is focused on the US market. Jim Champy, chairman of consulting practice, Dell Services says that over 14,000 of the 40,000 employees are based in the country. “We want to leverage this unit to be a delivery platform for Asia, where we see greater growth prospects than in the US and Europe because of the slowdown,” he said, adding that the team here will grow significantly in numbers to cater to both US and other new markets.
While stating there wasn’t any specific target, Champy said that they were looking for aggressive double-digit growth coming from a combination of organic and inorganic expansion. The company, which is primarily focused on healthcare, wants to build its financial services vertical, since it will bring big benefits in long term.
At present, Dell Services does niche work like support services in payments, cards processing and pricing & enterprise royalty. “We have to build the vertical to use this expertise and infrastructure management ability and provide end-to-end solutions for large banks,” he said. Dell now plans to use its hardware brand in the country to develop this market. “We hope to win at least half of those customers,” he added.
