The main reason for Russian growth is its low-cost yet high quality IT services. The country also boasts of a large number of talented IT professionals. Also, experts are comparing the approach of Russian IT companies to that of Indian companies that are quite professional. And a combination of all these factors together is aiding Russia to emerge ahead, slowly but steadily, on the global offshore IT outsourcing scenario.
Looking at the global Offshore outsourcing situation in general, India is easily spotted the leader of the offshore outsourcing market. IT outsourcing especially, is taking quantum leaps in the country. High quality and cost-effective offshore outsourcing services is putting India in a higher rung where no other country can touch it for the moment. Meanwhile China, which is currently being touted as holding the second position in offshore outsourcing services, is still years behind the Indian market. Russia meanwhile, is seeking a steady place behind these Asian giants, along with other countries like Philippines.
Now, market news indicates that Russian efforts in offshore IT outsourcing are in the right direction. There are hardly any big names plying in the IT outsourcing lanes of Russia. However many small-scale software companies from Russia are trying to make their presence felt in the international market. These companies include some Russian brands as well.
One big disadvantage the country face in its race for outsourcing space is a lack of English proficient professionals. English proficiency in Russia is nowhere near the Indian level. Cultural difference is also a big problem for Russia. However despite all this, Russia is trying to gain a hold on the international scene by providing high quality, low cost services. This is because; the growth of offshore outsourcing will mean a welcome boost for its economy, with employment opportunities galore.
However, the road to international glory is at present quite long. As, while the Russian software outsourcing industry is estimated to be worth around US$ 1 billion, the Indian IT Industry's estimated worth is more than US$ 24 billion.
