IBM focus more on its Indian offshore operations

It was reported recently that, IBM, which boasts a commendable presence in India, is presently focusing more on its Indian operations. The move is thought to be part of its efforts to retain global supremacy in IT services.

 

The growth of Indian IT outsourcing services has been amazing. India now leads the rest of the world in IT outsourcing. And this has attracted many an MNC to set up huge IT outsourcing projects in the country. A vast talent pool coupled with low cost facilities is attracting a lot of IT big wigs to India.

 

IBM is the biggest Computer Services Company globally. It has made huge investments in India relying on the country's supremacy in software outsourcing. IBM has its offices in Bangalore, which is now the Silicon Valley of India with the presence of a number of Global IT giants.

 

India is IBM's second largest office for IT services. It seems some of the company's largest projects take shape in its Indian centre. The largest MNC employer in the country, it employs more than 43,000 IT professionals for its software outsourcing services. This is to realize its intention of providing the best possible combination of high-value, cutting edge development services at lowest possible cost. This strategy allows it to reap maximum profits from its Indian division. Sources close to IBM reveal that the company is planning to expand its presence in India.

 

Other outsourcing MNCs in India like Cognizant and Accenture also has large operations in India. Cognizant currently has more than 28,000 employees on its roll. Both these companies are also hiring in thousands. IBM faces challenges from some Indian MNCs as well. However, it is still marching ahead with confidence, enjoying the benefits of operating from India.
