Wax Info Ltd has won the UK's top outsourcing award for use of outsourcing by an SME (small-medium enterprise). The award was presented to Wax Info Ltd during annual ceremonies held by the National Outsourcing Association, the independent body tasked with ensuring effective business management and best practices in outsourcing.
Wax's strategic choice of New Zealand as outsourcing site, particularly Wellington-based Black Coffee Software Ltd served as a milestone its award winning performance. It had handled a critical account for a Wax customer in Japan and impressed everyone with their technical expertise, dedication and timely resolution of the computer server development phase of the project.
Wax Info CEO, Nigel Spence says, "The main problem Wax faced was not only the development of a complex and large scale secure application in record time, but also where to find a dozen highly skilled and experienced programmers who could start immediately," and adds, "We took a leap of faith in choosing New Zealand but the people who did the work there, allied to the tremendous support of the New Zealand Government, meant that we delivered a world class product on time to a nation where high technology expertise is taken for granted."
The chairman of the National Outsourcing Association, Martyn Hart observes, "All winners have demonstrated excellence in outsourcing and ensuring that standards of best practice are being set in the industry. Wax info proved itself an innovative user of outsourcing, yet employs less than ten people and turns over well under £1m. It is rare to see an SME using outsourcing in a rigorous way, and it is rarer still to find an SME willing to offshore to the other side of the world. Wax info addressed the project with an open mind and it paid dividends, delivering on time and saving costs".
