BPO co Intelenet eyes tie-ups for growth

Intelenet, a Mumbai-based BPO services company, has charted out a multi-pronged growth strategy for the next few years. The strategy combines growth in the domestic call centre business, expanding centres in the US, Canada and the UK, and also acquiring shared services centres of domestic telecom and banking players. The firm plans to expand in the consulting services business through tie-ups. Susir Kumar, CEO, Intelenet, said, "We are looking for a partner with a presence in the US, the UK and India to expand our IT services."

The company plans to integrate its IT-BPO and consulting services through a strategic alliance with an IT sector company. The deal is expected to be finalised sometime next year. Mr Kumar said that focus areas would be maintaining database and performing processes like credit card services and charge their clients on per call basis.

Talking about data security, Mr Kumar said that overseas companies now dont have issues about moving data to India as the country is as secure as any other place. The organisation already has an alliance with Transcom, a CRM company, in Europe through which they provide services in 34 languages from 42 locations. Mr Kumar also said that they plan to enter China in 07 for back-end processes. The BPO will also get its processes certified by the IS 15000 standard next year.

Intelenet is planning an expansion in the domestic BPO space too. The company has already finalised an acquisition deal with Sparsh, a division of Spanco Telesystems, for about Rs 100 crore, Mr Kumar said. Sparsh has 3,500 employees, but the company plans to increase the head count to 5,000.

Intelenet has revenues of $60m as on March 31, 05. The target for March 31, 06 is $75m. Mr Kumar said that this has been a year of consolidations. However, he expects that revenues will touch $120m in 07.
