BPO contract for Accenture

Educational Testing Service (ETS), a provider of education assessments and psychometric research, has awarded Accenture a seven-year, $160M contract extension to continue managing its end-to-end supply chain, under a business process outsourcing (BPO) agreement. The contract was signed in May 2010.

BPO deal from Walgreens

The US largest drugstore chain Walgreens has announced a 10-year outsourcing deal with Indias BPO provider Genpact. As part of the contract, Walgreens will shift its accounting processes and jobs to Genpact, a move that will involve transfer of at least 500 jobs. This is Genpacts fourth large deal in past three months, signaling a gradual bounce back in the global BPO business market.

Indian KPO set for growth

The market for KPO or Knowledge Process Outsourcing, which follows the success waves created by ITO Information and Technology Outsourcing in the 1980s and the BPO Business Process Outsourcing in the 1990s, is expected to touch USD10 to 17 billion by 2010 and India is well poised to grab a major share of the market, a research paper released by the global audit, tax and advisory services group KPMG has revealed.

Statoil signs BPO deal

Accenture has signed a five-year business process outsourcing (BPO) contract with Statoil, an international energy company with operations in 40 countries, to manage the companys Accounts Payables processes.The agreement is designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Statoils Accounts Payable function by reengineering processes and increasing automation supported through Accentures Global Delivery Network using centers in Norway, the Czech Republic and India. The delivery of the outsourced services is scheduled to begin in September 2010.

Life and Pension BPO contracts BPO for Diligenta

Indian IT major Tata Consultancy Services Ltd says that its BPO subsidiary in the UK, Diligenta, has won two life and pension contracts totaling 250 million pounds in revenue in the United Kingdom. While Unisys Insurance Services Limited (UISL) transferred its UK life and pensions service business to Diligenta, its contract with Phoenix Life has been extended by an additional six years, TCS said in a regulatory filing.

India retians BPO leadership

India is expected to retain its leadership position in global sourcing supply of IT-BPO by 2020 and could touch the market at USD285 billion by then, growing at a CAGR of 15 per cent, says a report released by KPMG and Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO).The report,Asia-Oceania Vision 2020: Enabling IT leadership through collaboration revealed that India, which is the current market leader in global sourcing supply serves around 51 per cent of the overall global sourcing and has achieved impressive growth rates over the past decade. Nasscom in its latest announcement said that Indian IT-BPO market stands at USD 64 billion as on 2009.

LPO agreement for UnitedLex

BT has sealed a BPO agreement to send basic legal tasks to outsourcing provider UnitedLex, while putting stop to the task of its in house legal support services team in India. Going forward, a 15-strong UnitedLex team which includes lawyers, project managers and online support and administrative staff will handle commercial contracting and antitrust regulation work for BT offices in the UK, the US, India, Singapore and Hong Kong. The team will be based in Gurgaon, India.

Barclaycard outsources customer service operations to FirstSource

BPO firm Firstsource Solutions has bagged a five-year outsourcing contract worth $80-100 million from UK-based Barclaycard.Barclaycard, a part of banking major Barclays Plc, is into the credit card and consumer lending business. While the company did not disclose the deal size, sources said Firstsource has signed a five-year outsourcing partnership agreement and the deal size is between $80 million and $100 million.

Infosys BPO set for expansion

Infosys Technologies is set to expand its back office operations in Poland in the next two years to offer business process outsourcing (BPO) services to more European and global clients, a senior official of the IT bellwether said. "We will ramp up our headcount to 1,500 people by 2012 from about 1,000 this year at our Lodz BPO facility in Poland to serve at least 20 clients across verticals in Europe and American markets," Infosys BPO Poland Sp vice-president Krystian Bestry said.

WNS bags BPO deal

In one of the first offshoring deals from a West Asian bank, India s third-largest BPO, WNS Global Services, has secured a back-office contract from Mashreq, one of the largest banks in the United Arab Emirates. Technology deals from West Asia and Asia-Pacific are becoming important for the USD60-billion Indian IT-BPO industry as it tries to hedge against a slow recovery in Europe and growing conservatism in the US vis-a-vis offshoring. However, a WNS spokeswoman denied to comment on the value of the deal citing client confidentiality.
