Top back office services provider Genpact has partnered with IT firm Mastek to jointly offer solutions for the insurance industry in the first such alliance in the Indian outsourcing industry. The partnership will be for the US market from where Genpact gets a majority of its revenues. Genpact will leverage Mastekb s IT skills and knowledge in the insurance industry, while Mastek will benefit from the BPO firms reach in the US market.

BT has sealed a BPO agreement to send basic legal tasks to outsourcing provider UnitedLex, while putting stop to the task of its in house legal support services team in India. Going forward, a 15-strong UnitedLex team which includes lawyers, project managers and online support and administrative staff will handle commercial contracting and antitrust regulation work for BT offices in the UK, the US, India, Singapore and Hong Kong. The team will be based in Gurgaon, India.

The Indian legal process outsourcing LPO industry will more than triple in size and employ 17,000 professionals within five years, predicted research and analytics firm Evalueserve in a study. Around 15 per cent of outsourced services is so-called high-end work that is normally handled by US and UK associates.As at December 2009 India's LPO sector employed 4,900 professionals, according to the report, which it predicts to rise to 6,100 by the end of this year and to 17,000 professionals by December 2015. From December 2005 to 2009 the size of the Indian LPO market has almost quadrupled from 1,300 to 4900 professionals.

US largest drugstore chain Walgreens has announced a 10-year outsourcing deal with Indias BPO provider Genpact. As part of the contract, Walgreens will shift its accounting processes and jobs to Genpact, a move that will involve transfer of at least 500 jobs. This is Genpact fourth-large deal in past three months, signaling a gradual bounce back in the global BPO business market.
