According to Gartner, the business process outsourcing (BPO) market in India is estimated to grow 19 percent through 2013. The domestic India BPO services market grew by 7.3 percent year on year in 2009 primarily due to the global economic uncertainty which led to some price and volume pressures. Gartner estimates the Indian domestic BPO market will grow into a USD 1.2 billion market by 2011 and grow to USD 1.8 billion by 2013.

US largest drugstore chain Walgreens has announced a 10-year outsourcing deal with Indias BPO provider Genpact. As part of the contract, Walgreens will shift its accounting processes and jobs to Genpact, a move that will involve transfer of at least 500 jobs. This is Genpact fourth-large deal in past three months, signaling a gradual bounce back in the global BPO business market.

Back-office services provider Genpact has bagged a five-year contract from telecom operator Unitech Wireless to provide multiple customer service solutions to the latter. The BPO firm, however, did not disclose the size of the contract. Under the five-year contract, Genpact will deploy customer service solutions for Unitech Wireless in North India through its operation centre in Jaipur.

Hewitt Associates, a global human resources consulting and outsourcing services company has announced that it has renewed its long standing contract to provide HR business process outsourcing (BPO) services to International Paper Company, a global paper and packaging company. Hewitt and International Paper inked their initial HR BPO deal in 2001. Under the terms of the contract, Hewitt will continue to provide a full range of HR BPO services, including payroll, workforce administration, health and welfare administration, recruiting support activities, application support and help desk services using the SAP(R) platform.

Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) provider Stream Global Services, Inc has officially opened a new service centre in Cairo to expand its delivery to North America and Europe.The 800-plus seat centre, which was opened by His Excellency Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, will target customers in Stream's key market of CRM services for Fortune 1000 companies, with services in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Arabic.

Tiger Airways Singapore has reached an agreement with Symphony BPO Solutions Sdn Bhd to provide improved call centre services in phases after 15 April 2010.With this new agreement, customer calls will be handled by twice the number of agents, once recruitment and training of agents are completed within a few months. In addition, call centre operation hours will be extended.

Indian third party business process outsourcing (BPO) firm, Genpact, has announced a multi-year contract with the Tokyo-based Hikari Tsushin Inc, expanding its footprint in Japan. This BPO contract would start small and then scale up.The contract covers three types of services , finance and accounting, IT infrastructure support, and customer service. It also includes China, where Hikari is expanding.
