Indian LPO's in demand

Its flooding assignments for Indian legal process outsourcing LPO companies in spite of having a worst economic condition, while law graduates in the country are not at all interested in choosing LPO as a profession. It is the least preferred profession among law students, finds a new survey. Due to its costeffectiveness, Indian LPOs are the most preferred destination for multinational companies.

Domestic BPO market going strong

Indian tech majors Infosys Technologies and Wipro are set to enter the booming domestic back-office service market, multiplying by more than one-third every year, and join a tech revolution happening in rural India. Infosys BPO, the USD316-million back-office service arm of Infosys, plans to tie up with service providers with shops in rural areas and small towns for its domestic operations, company officials said. The revenue-share model will see Infosys getting the customers and the rural operators doing the service. The USD395-million Wipro BPO too will enter the domestic market soon. It already provides technology and other supports to a few rural service providers and may also explore service delivery tieups with them, company officials said.

New BPO centre by TCS

Expanding its footprint in Latin America, the country's largest software exporter TCS says that it has opened a new deliverycentre in Buenos Aires for providing consulting, BPO and IT services which will employ 250 professionals. "Our growing presence in Latin America continues to be of strategic importance to our overall business growth and we remain committed to working in close collaboration with institutions and universities (here) to help foster the development of local talent in Argentina and provide our customers with IT solutions from this location," TCS CEO S Ramadorai said.

MTNL awards BPO contract

Caretel Infotech, a Dalmia group, business process outsourcing (BPO) services provider has bagged a two-year contract from state-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) to manage the latter's call centre operations. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In a statement issued by Caretel , the company says the contract initially provides for 200 seats and this would help MTNL save costs and ramp up profitability.

Expansion plans from CDC

CDC Global Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of CDC and a provider of IT and IT-enabled services and consulting, has said that it is planning to expand its business process outsourcing BPO operations during the third quarter that includes the opening of two new offices located in Mumbai and Pune, India and the addition of 450 more seats. CDC Global Services started its BPO operations late in the first quarter of 2009 with 50 seats at two offices located in Mumbai and Pune, India, where it was already operating its IT outsourcing operations.

Boom time for Indian LPO

Bad times for some American companies is turning into good times for Indian legal offshoring industry. For reasons largely economic and partly cultural, Indias legal process outsourcing, or LPO, services providers have seen a sizeable uptick in business since the US economy has faltered. In particular, firms that handle support functions, such as reviewing documents and researching witnesses for US litigation, have enjoyed the biggest increases amid mounting disputes over who knew what and when in the mortgage and related markets meltdown.

Expansion plans for Healthcare BPO provider

Healthcare BPO firm Omega Healthcare Management Services plans to add 7,000 employees to its India facilities. CEO Gopi Natarajan said the company anticipates its client base will double and revenues grow four fold by 2012. Omega, which currently employs about 2,000 staff at its Bangalore and Chennai facilities, will invest USD50 million to expand in India and grow sales from USD 15 to USD 20 million to USD 70 to USD 90 million. Bulk of the hiring will take place in Bangalore, Natarajan added.
